Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep v.s. Blade Runner
Phillip K. Dick's Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep is an amazing novel and Ridley Scott's Blade Runner is an equally amazing adaptation of the novel. Watching Blade Runner after reading the novel, I felt that the movie was a loose adaptation of the Dick's novel. The director left out many elements that were mentioned in the novel such as: erstaz animals, Mercer, Kipple and more. Although a loose adaptation I feel that the director tried his best to illustrate the author's intentions and the novel, especially the message of humanity and how one can be defined as human. The director also did a great job of conveying the dark tone and mood, much like a detective noir feeling. One main thing i felt that the director changed was focus. What I mean is that in the novel the focus was on Deckard and Isodore and from there we try to find out with them what makes one "human". While in the movie, the director focused more on the Andy's (Or Replicants as they are referred to in the movie)and Deckard is used as a plot element to keep the story going. From there the director gives us the decision to decide whether they are indeed just androids or are they something more.

The Man Was Revealed!
This was a little extra credit assignment where we take an action line and then we use that line and either storyboard it or write out how the scene will be played out. In this case I chose to storyboard it since that is my focus after all. The action line is : "The man was revealed"
P.S. sorry about the difference in quality between the frames, it was getting late and as you can tell i was working backwards.
P.S.S Just a little fun fact, I just finished reading Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep by Phillip K. Dick and so this storyboard was inspired by that.

Something About Trung
Howdy! This blog, like it says in the description, is about my thoughts and interpretations of certain works in different media such as:movies, graphic novels, short stories, and books. So I would like to begin by listing out some of my favorite works:
Favorite movie: This is a hard one since there is so many great movies I've watched but if I had to pick one it would have to be 7 Samurai by Kurosawa. You can't go wrong with Kurosawa, he is a genius when it comes to storytelling. If you are turned off by the fact that the movie is black and white, I guess you can watch 13 Assassins which has the same premise, but its no Kurosawa.
Favorite book/novel: I'm a big fan of John Steinbeck, especially his book Of Mice and Men. I remember reading as a kid but didn't really understand what he was trying to say (actually I only read it because it was short and was on the list of books I can read and write a paper). It was only after I had to leave my friends and moved to Sacramento that the theme of the story of isolation and looking for companionship really hit me. Anyways it's a great read and again it's a short book so it won't take too much of your time to read it.
Favorite T.V. Show: I'm an animation student so it goes without saying that I'm a huge fan of Tex Avery. His cartoons are always so fast paced so after watching you are literally sweating and panting trying to keep up with him. I also enjoy documentaries, but sometimes it's nice to sit back and watch some mindless cartoon violence. He has so many gags after one another and really you never have the chance to stop laughing.
Favorite Adaptation: Although I haven't finished reading the original manga, I would have to say my favorite adaptation would be Akira. It was inspired by Blade Runner and hey you can't go wrong with Blade Runner right? The film is basically about maturity, the corruption of having power and trying to obtain that said power of the human race.
This is SOME of my favorite works, there are plenty of others but if I listed them all I would never finish this post. Hope you found some of my favorites interesting and if you want to know any other films or books that I enjoy leave a question in the comment box and I'll try to get back at you as soon as possible.
